The Core Set

The Core Set contains two honor dials, one "Learn to Play" book as well as various cards and tokens.[1]

  • 1 Initial Player token

Most individual cards appear only once in the Core Set, which means that to get a complete playset of every card one has to buy three Core Sets.[2]

204 Banzai! neutral Conflict Event Action: During a conflict, choose a participating character – that character gets +2military until the end of the conflict. You may lose 1 honor to resolve this ability twice. (Max 1 per conflict.)
96 Bayushi Manipulator scorpion Dynasty Character Courtier. Reaction: After honor dials are revealed – increase the value of your bid by 1.
189 Blackmail scorpion Conflict Event Play only if you are less honorable than your opponent.
Action: During a conflict, choose a character controlled by your opponent with printed cost 2 or lower – take control of that character until the end of the conflict.
112 Border Rider unicorn Dynasty Character Bushi. Cavalry. Action: Ready this character.
31 Borderlands Defender crab Dynasty Character Bushi. While this character is defending, opponents' card effects cannot bow it or move it.
36 Borderlands Fortifications crab Dynasty Holding Battlefield. Action: Choose a card in one of your provinces – switch this holding with that card.
Brash Samurai crane Dynasty Character Bushi. Action: When this character is your only participating member in a conflict – honor this character.
196 Breakthrough unicorn Conflict Event Reaction: After the resolution of your first conflict this phase as the attacking player, if that conflict broke a province – immediately declare your second conflict for this phase.
108 City of Lies scorpion Dynasty Holding City. Action: Reduce the cost of the next event you play this phase by 1.

16 Elemental Fury neutral Province Reaction: After this province is revealed – switch the contested ring with an unclaimed ring. (The conflict retains its type.)
14 Endless Plains unicorn Province Reaction: After an attack is declared here, break this province, your opponent chooses an attacking character – discard that character.
211 Fallen in Battle neutral Conflict Event Reaction: After you win a military conflict by 5 or more skill, choose a participating character – discard that character. (Max 1 per conflict.)

49 Kakita Kaezin Unique crane Dynasty Character Bushi. Duelist. Kenshinzen. Action: While this character is participating in a conflict, your opponent must choose a participating he or she controls – challenge that character to a military duel. If this character wins, move each character not involved in the duel home. If it loses, send it home.
75 Lion's Pride Brawler lion Dynasty Character Bushi. Courtier. Action: While this character is attacking, choose a character with equal or lower military skill than this character – bow that character.
69 Matsu Berserker lion Dynasty Character Bushi. Berserker.

125 Miya Mystic neutral Dynasty Character Shugenja. Earth. Imperial. Action: During the conflict phase, choose an attachment on an opponent’s character – move that attachment to another character controlled by that opponent, if able.
12 Mori Kuroi phoenix Province Action: During a conflict at this province, select one – switch the contested ring with an unclaimed ring (the conflict retains its type), or switch the conflict type (the conflict retains its ring).
148 Noble Sacrifice crane Conflict Event Action: Sacrifice a (friendly) honored character. Choose a dishonored character – discard that character.
122 Otomo Courtier neutral Dynasty Character Courtier. Imperial. This character cannot participate in conflicts as an attacker against a player that controls the Imperial Favor.

171 Seeker of Knowledge phoenix Conflict Character Courtier. Shugenja. Air. While this character is attacking, the contested ring gets air element. If this character wins the conflict you may choose which ring effect to resolve.
Shameful Display neutral Province Action: During a conflict at this province, choose 2 participating characters – honor one of those characters and dishonor the other.

29 Shrewd Yasuki crab Dynasty Character Courtier. Action: While this character is participating in a conflict, if there is a holding in play – look at the top 2 cards of your conflict deck. Add 1 of those cards to your hand and place the other on the bottom of your conflict deck.
83 Solemn Scholar phoenix Dynasty Character Shugenja. Earth. Scholar. Action: During a conflict, if the earth ring is in your claimed ring pool, choose an attacking character – bow that character.
209 Spies at Court neutral Conflict Event Reaction: After you win a Political conflict, dishonor a (friendly) participating character – discard 2 cards at random from your oppenent's hand. (Max 1 per conflict.)
80 Staging Ground lion Dynasty Holding Battlefield. Action: Choose up to 2 facedown cards in your provinces – turn the chosen cards faceup.
Steadfast Samurai lion Dynasty Character Bushi. Forced Reaction: After the fate phase begins, if you have at least 5 more honor than an opponent – this character cannot be discarded or lose fate this phase.
