The Bayushi Family is the public face of the Scorpion Clan, and provide most of its bushi and courtiers.

Description

The Bayushi descend from the Kami Bayushi, the most cunning of his siblings. Their family motto, "I Can Swim", comes from a variation on the tale of the Scorpion and the Frog where, at the critical moment, the Scorpion reveals a previously unknown talent and fundamentally changes the ending. This fable informs much of the Scorpion Clan's actions as a whole and the Bayushi's actions in particular, where they do their best to hide their true strengths so as to be more effective when they're needed.

Given their position as the visible part of the Scorpion Clan, the Bayushi have perfected various forms of manipulation to assist them in their court dealings and in combat. It is their role to be the claws of the clan that can pin their enemies down while the hidden threat of their tail, the other families, can strike.
