I Can Swim is a saying of the Scorpion Clan. It is derived from an alternate conclusion to the fable of the Scorpion and the Frog. In the original, the scorpion stings the frog even though the scorpion knew that would kill them both, and the story ends with the scorpion saying "it's my nature." The modified version of the tale ends with "I can swim."

The message of the modified fable, which the saying alludes to, is to keep your true abilities hidden from your enemies, and only bring them out when it is too late for your enemies to properly react.
