Rokugan, also known as the Emerald Empire, is the main setting for Legend of the Five Rings. It is an empire covering a wide variety of landscapes, people, and clans all connected by a shared devotion to the Chrysanthemum Throne. Rokugan is bordered by the Shadowlands in the south, by the Burning Sands in the north, the Twilight Mountains in the west, and the Islands of Spice and Silk in the east.[1]

In the CCG the thousand years leading up to the events of the actual card game were called the Thousand Years of Peace, but under FFG it seems that the land has always been dominated by conflict.[1]
